The Pui Pui Protected Rainforest was established on January 31,
1985 through Law (R.S.) N 0042-85-AG/DGFF, and it is located
in the department of Junín, provinces of Chanchamayo,
Jauja, Concepción and Satipo districts of Vitoc, Chanch
amayo, Prehanaki, Pampa Hermosa, Comas y Monobamba. With a
surface of 60,000 hectares.
The
main goals of this area are to protect the hydrological
basin of the rivers Tulumayo, Pichanaki and Ipoki in order
to keep water for agricultural purposes and protect the
agricultural lands and the forest.
