The Allpahuayo Mishana Reserve was established on March 2, 1999 through law (D.S.) Nº 006-99-AG. It is located in the department of Loreto, province of Maynas and with a surface of 57667,43 hectares. It has very important ecosystems such as the river Nanay which provides water for the city of Iquitos.

Due to be really close to Iquitos the tourism has been increased in te Allpahuayo Mishana reserve in the last years, for example we can observe the tourist Complex of Quistococha, Nauta, the National Reserve of Pacayá - Samiria and the river Amazonas.
