The ceremony starts at 10:00 pm. and it is directed by the master shaman who takes a sit with the participants making a circle.

The place has to be semi-dark and silent. The shaman starts the ceremony ICARANDO (smoking and blowing) the beverage with the smoke of Mapacho (Nicotina specie) asking for permission to the Almighty and the spirits of the plants to start the ritual.

The effect of the hallucinogenic beverage is shown 20 to 30 minutes after drinking and the trance lasts approximately from 2 ½ to 3 hours.

ITINERARY:

Day 01: Lima / Iquitos / Heliconia Amazon River Lodge

Reception at Francisco Secada Vigneta Airport in Iquitos and transport to Bellavista Nanay, on the shores of the Nanay River where we will take a boat to start our trip down the Majestic Amazon River. Our adventure starts at the "Isla de los Monos" (Monkey Island), where we will observe different species of monkeys (some of them endangered) such as the Pichicos (Saguinus Fusicollis), Choros (Lagothrix Lagothricha), Huapos Negros (Pithecia Pithecia), Tocones (Callicebus Mollock Mollock). These species were rescued and relocated on this island where they receive proper care and live within a natural environment.

Then, we will continue our trip towards the Heliconia Amazon River Lodge located on the Yanamono Reserve.

Arrival and reception with a cold typical jungle drink. Lodging and Lunch. After a brief rest we will take a guided hike through the forest identifying botanical species, medicinal plants and amazing trees such as the Lupuna (Ceiba Pentandra).Return to the Lodge and rest.

After observing the Amazonian Sunset, we will take a night boat ride in the Yanamono Lagoons. We´ll enjoy the magical sounds of the jungle. Meet with a Shaman who will explain the Ayahuasca Ceremony. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 02: Heliconia Amazon River Lodge

Early, birdwatching tour by boat. We´ll also be able to see the world famous Victoria Regia (Giant Water Lilies). Return and have breakfast at the Lodge. After a little rest, we will visit the Yagua Village on the Momon River . We'll be able to observe the customs and traditions of the native community. Later, returning to the lodge, we'll visit a Sugar Cane Still to learn about rum preparation. Lunch. In the Afternoon, we will take a fishing trip on the Amazon streams where the most daring will feel the need to take the challenge to fish for piranhas. During the journey we will make a stop to observe the shy pink dolphins (Inia Geoffrensis) which are found only in the Amazon River . Return to the Lodge. Dinner (Perons making the Ritual will have a special dinner) 10:00 p.m. Beginning of the Ayahuasca Ritual: In a special place selected for this event. The ritual may last until sunrise depending on the number of persons. Overnight at the Lodge.

Day 03: Visit to a Riverside Town

Breakfast in the Lodge. Full day in a riverside town; where we'll be able to see the unique way of life of the people who live in this community. Return to the Lodge and rest. In the afternoon, we will take a  trip to the "Tahuampas" (flooded jungle) by canoe for an hour where we will enjoy the marvelous landscape of the jungle. Dinner (Persons making the Ritual will have a special dinner)

Day 04: Iquitos / Lima

Breakfast in the Lodge. Transfer to the airport.
